Then And Now: ’80s And ’90s Supermodels

Supermodels are called that not only because they are incredibly beautiful women who know how to look attractive no matter what they wear, but they also have superpowers. At least that’s what I think. And by superpowers I mean the ability to make or break a fashion show just with your presence on the runway. It was like that in the 80s and 90s and it’s still like that. Sure, there are successful fashion shows that hire models we don’t know, but think about it, once they hire a supermodel, you know it immediately and it automatically becomes the most talked about fashion show. Let’s take a look at some of the supermodels from the 80s and 90s and see what they look like now.

1. Tyra Banks
Tyra Banks’ biggest break occurred in the ’90s when she appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Well, guess what, she did it again in 2019. Twenty years have passed and Tyra is still a supermodel, not to mention hugely successful as a television personality and host of her own show.

2. Christy Turlington
She started modeling when she was 14, got her big break at 18 when she appeared on the cover of Vogue and appeared in a Duran Duran music video. Christy is now 51 years old and still looks stunning. She is a mother of two children and founded a non-profit organization called Every Mother Counts.

3. Claudia Schiffer
Everyone knows who Claudia Schiffer is, but she had to be convinced to become a model. She was discovered in a nightclub in the late 80s and the rest is history. Clearly modeling was great for her, she’s not just a supermodel, she’s a legend at this point. Today she is a happy mother of three, has published several exercise videos, works with UNICEF and has her own cashmere collection.

4. Linda Evangelista
Linda clearly knew she had modeling material because she was discovered when she participated in a teen modeling contest. After three years he appeared on the cover of Vogue and said that he doesn’t get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day.

5. Naomi Campbell
You can’t talk about supermodels and not mention Naomi Campbell. She was the first black model to do so many things, including appearing on multiple Vogue covers and even the cover of the Times back in the day. And you know what? He looks like he hasn’t aged a day since then.
